Grand Wash Trail

Grand Wash Trailhead can be accessed from the south end on Utah State Road 24, only 4.5 miles from the Visitor Center. It can also be accessed from the north end off Scenic Road. There are plenty of warning signs to NOT enter this area if rain is in the forecast. It’s easy to see how adventure can turn to tragedy in a brief moment. An early start provided ample parking along the highway, and we were quickly immersed in this magnificent canyon hike. The sandstone cliffs of Wingate and Navajo sandstone tower over the floor. There is a short section called the Narrows that is less than 20 feet wide. The eroded rock formations, evidence of previous flash flooding and huge boulders that have toppled from the canyon walls makes the 5.6 mile up and back hike an absolute must.
