Wrapping up a week in Monterey… After such a mind blowing experience in Yosemite, the cure for abundant mountains, Half Dome, El Capitan…etc… is a trip to the California Coast to visit Monterey, Big Sur, and cruise down PCH HWY1…
Highlights of the area included a visit to the Dali17 Museum of Monterey, a trip to the Santa Cruz Flea Market, a drive thru scenic Carmel-by-the-Sea to discover the homes of the rich and famous and Deb found some delicious brie at the “The Cheese Shop”. In downtown Monterey we found croissants made by French angels at the Paris Bakery Cafe and delectable seafood at Monterey Fish House.
We really enjoyed our walks on the beaches with the dogs… No shortage of places to take the “Three Amigos”,, Carmel River State Beach, Garrapata State Beach, Monastery Beach, Pfeiffer State Beach,, even got to take them for s stroll amidst the redwoods at Pfeiffer-Big Sur State Park and play in the river… Deb and Zeus have been drawn to the babbling brooks and tide pools…
After multiple trips down the PCH to see the rugged California coast, a morning visit to the Basilica of Mission San Carlos, the overcast skies didn’t hamper the beauty of the historic 17 Mile drive. Throw in a cruise past Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row and the Presidio and we will wave goodbye to Monterey and set our cruise control for the Bay area..
